Athletics

At Saint Matthew School, athletics are an extension of the mission of the school. It is another tool for coaches, parents, teachers, and administrators to teach invaluable lessons about the human spirit, community, and faith.

Saint Matthew School has a no cut policy to encourage all students to participate in athletics. As early as kindergarten, students are given the opportunity to explore sports in a safe and competitive environment.

Saint Matthew School competes in two athletic conferences, the Diocesan Athletic Conference and the Harpeth Valley Athletic Conference. The school offers cross country (K-8), cheerleading (6-8), flag football (1-4), basketball (3-8), volleyball (5-8), golf (5-8), and soccer (5-8). 

In addition, a number of Nashville Catholic sports are offered and administered by Father Ryan High School.  These additional sports are offered in a format that allows students from all Diocesan schools to try out for a team as some grade schools cannot field a full team on their own.  These sports include: swimming and diving, tennis, wrestling, lacrosse, football, baseball, soccer.

Co-Curricular

Co-curricular activities are an essential part of life at Saint Matthew School.  As an extension of the formal learning experiences in the classroom, we are pleased to offer the following activities which allow students to explore strengths, talents and interests outside of the classroom setting.
