Columbarium Feasibility Study

Saint Matthew Catholic Church is exploring the possibility of developing a columbarium on parish property as an option for parishioners and their families who wish to have a Catholic burial place for cremated remains.

The Catholic Church teaches that cremation is permitted, provided the cremated remains are treated with the same dignity and respect given to the body of the deceased.  The remains must be buried or entombed in a sacred place, such as a Catholic cemetery or Parish grounds, rather than scattered, kept at home, or divided among family members.

A Catholic columbarium provides families with a permanent, sacred place of rest and remembrance where loved ones can visit, pray and honor those who have passed away.
