Giving

As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
—1 Peter 4:10

Stewardship is a way of life, a life of accountability and responsibility, acknowledging God as Creator and Giver of all. Stewardship is based on the spiritual principles of the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus. Stewardship is not just a program or a method of fundraising; it is a way of thanking God for all His blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent, and treasure we have each received and acknowledging that from God we draw our being.

Online Giving

As an additional option to sharing your treasure in the offertory baskets during Mass each week, Saint Matthew also offers an online giving portal called Pushpay. Online giving provides our parishioners with a way to establish automatic recurring or one-time giving that is safe, secure, and flexible. You can set up contributions through your bank account or credit card and can manage the timing and amounts of your giving anytime from your computer, phone, or tablet.

To establish online giving and create your Saint Matthew profile click the Online Giving button below. If you need help with the portal, access our information sheet here.

While Pushpay is the preferred giving option, you are welcome to give via cash or check through the collection baskets, or see below for other ways to contribute to Saint Matthew.

Please contact Bill Stewart (615-550-5107, bstewart@stmatthewtn.org) with any questions.

Plan Your Giving

There are many benefits if you leave a bequest to Saint Matthew Church:

  • It doesn’t cost you anything today
  • A bequest is free of federal and estate tax.
  • You can leave a legacy through a bequest.

Bequests

A bequest is a written statement in a donor’s will directing that specific assets, or a percentage of the estate, will be transferred to charity at the donor’s death. Giving through your will is the most popular way to make an estate gift and one of the most significant ways donors can benefit Saint Matthew Church. Through a provision in your written and executed will, you can make a gift in the form of cash, securities, real estate, or personal property.

Consider this sample language:

I add the following paragraph to Article ___________ of my Last Will:

(a) I give the following to Saint Matthew Catholic Church Franklin, Tennessee an unincorporated religious association. • The sum of $__________________ [amount] AND/OR • _________% [percent] of the residue of my estate AND/OR • The following described property: [description]

Retirement Plans and IRAs

This gifting opportunity merely involves obtaining a beneficiary designation form from the retirement plan administrator of a 401(k), 403(b) or traditional IRA and naming Saint Matthew Church as the entire or partial beneficiary of the retirement plan assets upon the owner’s death.

Life Insurance

Donors may give an existing policy, either fully paid or partially paid, or a new policy. Similar to a retirement plan designation, the proposed gift to Saint Matthew Church is accomplished by naming Saint Matthew Church as a beneficiary of the policy on the beneficiary designation form. Upon the donor’s death, Saint Matthew Church will receive all, or a portion of, the proceeds from the policy.
