Announcing: SMS Drama Club Workshops for 2026-2027!
SMS Drama Club’s Workshops endeavor to give students a place to build confidence, show their creativity, learn teamwork, and have a lot of fun!
Each workshop focuses on a different aspect of the theater experience, culminating in the Spring Musical. You may register for any combination or ALL of them! Registration Information coming soon.

WHO: Students in grades 5-8 and their parents
WHEN: Thursday, August 13, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
DETAILS: This introductory meeting is for any students and parents who are interested in the SMS Drama Club workshops and the Spring Musical.
This year’s workshops and schedule includes:
- Drama Club Information Meeting – FREE – Students AND Parents (Thursday, August 13, 3:00-4:00 p.m.)
- Drama Club Fall Actors’ Academy Workshop – $30 – (Mondays 3:00-4:30 p.m. August 17 – September 21)
- Drama Club Fall Stagecraft Workshop – $30 – (Thursdays 3:00-4:30 p.m. August 20-September 17)
- Drama Club Fall Performance – FREE – (3:00-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sep. 24, Monday, Sep. 28, Monday, Oct. 5, AND Thursday Oct. 8 3:00-5:30 p.m.) Required for Actors’ Academy Workshop attendees.
- Drama Club Audition Workshop – FREE – (Monday, October 19 & Thursday, October. 22, and Monday, October 26, 3:00-4:30 p.m.)
- Drama Club Spring Musical – $150 – (Auditions/Stagecraft Crew Meeting: Thursday, Oct. 29, 3:00-5:00 p.m; Callback Auditions: Monday, October 30, 3:00-5:00 p.m; Rehearsals: Mondays and Thursdays starting in January)

Drama Club Actors Academy Workshop – $30
- Mondays 3:00-4:30 p.m. Aug. 17-Sept. 21
- Learn about ACTING!
- Actors’ Academy Workshop will cover
- How to use your voice and body in a play
- Theater vocabulary and etiquette
- How to create an original story to perform
- Prepare to perform for the Drama Club Fall Performance, Thursday October 8, 5:00 p.m.
Drama Club Stagecraft Workshop – $30
- Thursdays: 3:00-4:30 p.m. Aug. 20-Sept. 17
- Learn about what happens BACKSTAGE!
- Stagecraft Workshop topic covered:
- What is Stagecraft?
- How to operate Sound & Lights
- How Set, Props, and Costumes contribute to a production
- Prepare to run the backstage crew for the Drama Club Fall Performance, Thursday October 8, 5:00 p.m.
Drama Club Fall Performance Workshop – FREE
- 3:00-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sep. 24, Monday, Sep. 28, Monday, Oct. 5, AND Thursday Oct. 8 3:00-5:30 p.m.
- Put it all together!
- Stagecraft attendees AND Actors’ Academy meet together to prepare and present a performance for parents and friends.
- Required for Actors’ Academy Workshop attendees.
Drama Club Audition Workshop – FREE
- Meets on Mondays Oct. 19 & 26 AND Thursday, Oct. 22, 3:00-4:30 p.m.)
- This FREE workshop will help prepare the students for the Spring Musical and covers:
- What to expect in the Audition
- Specific songs and scene preparation
- Required for all actors
Drama Club Spring Musical – $150
- Auditions/Stagecraft Crew Meeting: Thursday, Oct. 29, 3:00-5:00 p.m
- Callback Auditions: Friday, October 30, 3:00-5:00 p.m (optional)
- Rehearsals: Mondays and Thursdays starting in January
- Everyone who auditions will be in the show!
- Students may choose to be part of the Cast or on the Stagecraft Crew
- Auditions will determine who is cast in the specific roles.
