Hospitality for the Totus Tuus Missionaries

Provide a meal for our missionaries, or offer a place to sleep while they serve our parish youth!

When Jesus called his disciples to preach in villages, He instructed them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, no bag, nor bread, nor money.” (Luke 9:3) In this, Jesus was allowing the apostles to rely on local hospitality during their missions. Some villages rejected them, and the apostles shook off the dust from their feet as a testimony against that village. Some villages accepted them and gave the apostles a place to stay and food to eat as they continue their mission to preach the Gospel. In a similar vein, the Totus Tuus missionaries are coming to Saint Matthew to spread the Gospel to our parish youth and are looking for hospitality while on their mission. Feed the Totus Tuus Missionaries

A team of eight missionaries from the Diocese of Nashville comes to Saint Matthew for a week of Totus Tuus, sharing the joy of the Gospel with our parish youth through prayer, faith formation, and fun activities. Throughout the week, the missionaries spend long days teaching and ministering to children and teens. As a parish, we invite our your family to support them by providing a lunch or a dinner they can enjoy.

Join Us for a Parish Potluck

All parishioners are invited to join us for a parish potluck on Wednesday from 5:15–6:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the missionaries, thank them for their service, and enjoy fellowship with other parish families during Totus Tuus week. If you plan to join for the potluck, please sign up here.

Host Families Needed

As mentioned above, we are also seeking host families for our Totus Tuus missionaries. While the missionaries spend most of their days serving at the parish, they need a welcoming home where they can rest each night and enjoy breakfast each morning.

Whether you have a spare bedroom, or room simply room for an air mattress(es), hosting missionaries is a wonderful opportunity to practice Christian hospitality, support the Church’s mission of evangelization, and build relationships with these dedicated young adults as they share their faith with our parish community.

Registration is still open for Totus Tuus and Vacation Bible School. Totus Tuus offers a fun, faith-filled week for students entering grades 1–12, while Vacation Bible School provides an engaging experience for our younger children entering Pre-K & Kindergarten.
