SACRAMENT INFORMATION

All Masses will be offered at their regularly scheduled times, as well as confession on Saturday. Please note that the obligation to attend Mass does not apply when conditions render it impossible or unsafe to travel to church.

Please note the following satement from the Diocese of Nashville in regards to the winter weather.

With inclement weather on the horizon throughout Middle Tennessee, the Diocese of Nashville reminds the faithful that no Catholic is obligated to attend Sunday Mass if road or weather conditions are unsafe. No dispensation is needed. Please stay safe and join us in praying for the safety of all members of our community, especially emergency personnel and those who may be at greater risk because of the severe weather.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

With icy conditions expected for this weekend, Saint Matthew has cancelled the Religious Education, Ignite, and RISE programs scheduled for Sunday.

The Theology & Culture talk for this Sunday has been rescheduled to Sunday, February 8.

CAMPUS SAFETY

Our facilities team will be monitoring the storm and precipitation and treating the campus when it is most prudent to do so. Based on the forecast as of Friday afternoon, snow and/or ice, is expected to continue falling during liturgy times. If you choose to come to our campus, expect slick conditions. They campus may not be treated prior to your visit and even if it has, conditions may deteriorate during Mass or more precipitation falls and temperatures drop. Please take great caution when driving and walking on the parking lots and walking into church. Remember the Sunday Obligation does not apply.

REMEMBERING THE SABBATH

We encourage you to remember that Sunday is the Lord’s Day—a day set apart for worship, rest, and renewal. Take advantage of this time together with your family to grow spiritually through prayer, reflection, and meaningful time together. If you choose to watch Mass as a family, we do not anticipate having a volunteer available to run our livestream. Many Catholic churches stream Masses on Youtube or you can watch online via EWTN’s channel.

SCHOOL

In response to inclement weather, Saint Matthew School does not follow Williamson County school closing decisions.  When weather conditions cause school opening to be questionable, the announcement will be made via FACTS communication. The information may also be found on certain television stations and Saint Matthew social media.  Parents may watch any of the local television stations to obtain accurate information.

Also a text message will be sent to the cell phone numbers and email addresses

provided by parents to the school stating one of the following:

  1. Saint Matthew School will be closed.
  2. Saint Matthew School will open late (given in hours).
  3. Saint Matthew School will be closing early.

Please note, no announcement will be made if school is to open on schedule.

USING PRUDENCE

Your safety is important to us. Please remember that no one is bound to the impossible. If you are physically unable to get to Mass or it would involve a significant hazard, then the obligation for you to attend Mass is lifted. Please err on the side of caution and be safe.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and communicate any changes as needed. Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and care for one another during this time. While we may end up apart this weekend, you may stay up-to-date with what is happening in the parish by viewing the bulletin online here.
