Baby Norman Update and Thank You to All Who Have Prayed for Him and Their Family

The following message is from Norman’s mother. The family would like to thank all those who have kept him in your prayers.

It’s hard to believe that baby Norman is almost six months old. Driving back and forth to Riley Hospital has become second nature.

After much thought and prayer, we have made the difficult decision to turn off Norman’s Berlin Heart on Monday, December 16. Norman will likely pass an hour after the machine is turned off. We are not giving up on Norman or God’s ability to heal him, in fact we continue to pray for a miracle.

Weeks ago we were told Norman’s kidneys were very unlikely to come back. Every available option seemed to just delay the inevitable. Our intention was always to bring Norman home, but that never became a reality. Instead, we loved on him inside his hospital room through head rubs, story time, singing, and holding hands.

We chose the 16th because it’s also Sam’s birthday, that way it doesn’t have to be solely a day of mourning, but a celebration as well.

Barring an 11th hour miracle, we believe Norman will be with Jesus soon. We don’t know what God’s purpose was for putting our family through this situation, but we know that Norman’s story has touched numerous lives. It’s been heartening to hear from people who had their faith in God strengthened because of our baby boy.

People are always asking if there is anything they can do for us. As we are in the midst of the Christmas season, we would like to ask anyone reading this to consider attending a Christmas service this year. Our faith and relationship with God is the only reason we’ve made it through this situation whole.

Thank you for the prayers and support.

Love Sam, Amy, Quentin, Sophie and Norm
