Saint Matthew will be celebrating Candlemas at the 7 p.m. Mass on Friday, February 2. Candlemas is a Christian tradition celebrated on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, commemorating Christ’s entrance into the world as the light to dispel the darkness of sin. At this Mass, we will bless all the candles we will use in the church this year.

In addition, we will also have blessed candles available after the Mass to take home. They will be available in the Narthex with a donation box. Donations are not required, but a $5 donation is suggested and appreciated.

May these candles serve as a reminder of your Baptism throughout the year and the joy that Christ won for us through His life, death and resurrection.
