Join us for a Habitat for Humanity build!

Before the holiday hustle kicks into full swing, we invite you to spend time giving back to a member of the community in this multi-parish Habitat for Humanity Build!

Our Knights of Columbus Council #12012 will be hosting the build with parishioners from Saint Matthew, Saint Henry, Saint Stephen, Cathedral of the Incarnation, and Christ the King parishes on November 19-21. The home will be located in Sherwood Commons, a new townhome community developed by Habitat for Humanity in the Inglewood neighborhood.

If you are interested in volunteering, either by providing supplies for the build or helping at the build site, please click the button below to complete the Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Interest form. And if you have any questions, please contact Ken Warren at kwarren173@gmail.com.

Meet the Future Homeowner

“My biggest concern is paying toward a future that I could never tell my son was ours,” says Dionna. “I just want to be able to say to my son, ‘This is our home.’” Dionna is the mother of an 18-month-old and she is ready to do whatever it takes to provide a stable home for her son. Her sisters, both of whom are Habitat for Humanity homeowners, referred her to Habitat’s homeownership program. “It makes me feel more secure knowing my Habitat home will not be taken from me,” she says.

To save money for homeownership, Dionna recently moved in with her sister and she is paying off her auto loan. The native Nashvillian graduated from Tennessee State University in the spring of 2016 with a bachelor of science. In 2017, she graduated from the Nashville School of Massage  Therapy with a certification in therapeutic massage. She hopes to one day have her own mobile massage practice. Currently, she works for the State of Tennessee in the vehicle services department.

She says she is happy that Nashville is an “evolving city,” but with the price of rent increasing drastically, she doesn’t want to get priced out of living in her hometown. She says she will be relieved with a monthly housing payment that is affordable. “Habitat teaches you the process of  homeownership and you are included every step of the way.” To her sponsors she says, “I am truly blessed by you. I know this isn’t the easiest process to go through but I will persevere until  I see the smile on my son’s face when he is able to run around in his space.”
