Join us for a Habitat for Humanity build!<\/h2>\n

Before the holiday hustle kicks into full swing, we invite you to spend time giving back to a member of the community in this multi-parish Habitat for Humanity Build!<\/p>\n

Our Knights of Columbus Council #12012 will be hosting the build with parishioners from Saint Matthew, Saint Henry, Saint Stephen, Cathedral of the Incarnation, and Christ the King parishes on November 19-21. The home will be located in Sherwood Commons, a new townhome community developed by Habitat for Humanity in the Inglewood neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Meet the Future Homeowner<\/h3>\n

\"\"\u201cMy biggest concern is <\/span>paying toward a future that <\/span>I could never tell my son <\/span>was ours,\u201d says Dionna. \u201cI <\/span>just want to be able to say <\/span>to my son, ‘This is our <\/span>home.\u2019\u201d Dionna is the <\/span>mother of an 18-month-old <\/span>and she is ready to do <\/span>whatever it takes to provide <\/span>a stable home for her son. <\/span>Her sisters, both of whom <\/span>are Habitat for Humanity <\/span>homeowners, referred her <\/span>to Habitat\u2019s <\/span>homeownership program. \u201cIt makes me feel more secure knowing my Habitat home will not be taken from me,\u201d she says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To save money for homeownership, Dionna recently moved in with her sister and she is paying off her auto loan. The native Nashvillian graduated from Tennessee State University in the spring of 2016 with a bachelor of science. In 2017, she graduated from the Nashville School of Massage\u00a0 Therapy with a certification in therapeutic massage. She hopes to one day have her own mobile massage practice. Currently, she works for the State of Tennessee in the vehicle services department.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She says she is happy that Nashville is an \u201cevolving city,\u201d but with the price of rent increasing drastically, she doesn\u2019t want to get priced out of living in her hometown. She says she will be relieved with a monthly housing payment that is affordable. \u201cHabitat teaches you the process of\u00a0 homeownership and you are included every step of the way.\u201d To her sponsors she says, \u201cI am truly blessed by you.
