Saint Matthew’s Haiti Ministry proudly presents…

Saint Matthew Courtyard
21+ Event

For the past 25+ years, Saint Matthew has ministered to the Haitian community of Gobert through a partnership with Our Lady of Miracles parish and sister chapels. These parishes serve approximately 25,000 people and are located in a northern, rural area of Haiti.

Our continued support, alongside the leadership of Father Nicolas Floreal, the parish’s new pastor, and Dr. Librice, the doctor at the Gobert clinic, is helping the community meet its medical, physical, spiritual and educational needs.

Our largest annual appeal and fundraiser is Well Played: A Songwriters Night, which is now in its 13th year. We are hoping to build on the success of last year’s event, which raised over $30,000.

Join us on Saturday, September 16 for a night of music, fellowship and fun! Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, July 15.

Wood
Newton

Wood Newton moved from his home state of Arkansas to Nashville in 1976 to get into the music business. Since then, as a songwriter, Wood has written some of country music’s biggest hits, among them are; “BOBBIE SUE” for THE OAK RIDGE BOYS, “TWENTY YEARS AGO” for KENNY ROGERS, “WHAT I DIDN’T DO” for STEVE WARINER, and “RIDING WITH PRIVATE MALONE” which he produced for DAVID BALL. All four songs have received BMI awards for being played over a million times. He still maintains a studio in the historic RCA STUDIO A BUILDING on Music Row, where he continues to write, record, and produce his and the songs of others. Wood produced and sang harmony with David Ball on “OLD FOLKS AT HOME”, a track on “Beautiful Dreamer, The Songs Of Stephen Foster.” It won a Grammy for Traditional Folk Album of the Year in 2005. Wood served on the NSAI Board of Directors for many years and made several trips to Washington, D.C. in support of the songwriting profession.
